Horrifying Horror Poem

Hi Bloggers!
This week for literacy we had to create a horror poem. This poem had to include some horror conventions, as this term for literacy we are focusing on Genre. This poem is what I think of when I hear the word 'horror'. I hope you enjoy my horror poem!

The Basement, a forbidden place
Where my mother hides
As her safe place
It smells like rotting meat
A pungent nauseating stink
The rotten stench on my mother
And the foul air she left in her wake as she left
I crept down the stairs
And opened the door
There before me
Were dead bodies galore
They were disembodied and decomposed to a horrifying feat
They were skinned, they were burned they were left in a heap
I tried to run, but my feet were tied down
“You're next,” she said

And I was already dead

Thank you for reading my poem.

Can you think of a plot twist to this poem? If so please feel free to comment it down bellow.

  1. Kia Ora Mia!
I think it’s so cool how you introduced your poem and talked about how the person was feeling, the smell and the surroundings. I liked how you incorporated rhyming in your poem, it sounds really good! Look forward to commenting on other posts. Here is the link to my blog :)
