Spanish Learning!

SPANISH!

For the past two weeks, Toroa hub has been learning the basics of Spanish. So far we have learnt alot from using peardeck, and from our teacher (Mrs Davies). I am proud of what I have learnt.

I have learned how to count to ten in Spanish. I had already known how to, but it was good to revise. I hope to learn how to count to 100 some day!
Uno
Dos
Tres
Cuatro
Cinco
Seis
Siete
Ocho
Nueve
Diaz

I have also learned some ways of transport (such as vehicles), this would be helpful if I were to be in Spain and needed to get somewhere.

I have also learnt the days of the week and the months of the years. We used a word search to help us remember the months better, that was fun! My favourite day is lunes (Monday) because it is quite easy to remember (luna = moon). I find each day really interesting and the meaning behind each day. A lot of the days represent planets, or important things to the Latin culture such as religion or gods.
Monday - lunes
Tuesday - martes
Wednesday - miercoles - Mid week is a easy way to remember!
Thursday - Jueves
Friday - viernes
Saturday - sabado
Sunday - domingo
An interesting fact is that the days of the weeks or months do not use capital letters at the start of the words!

I learnt basic conversation, you can see what I have learnt by looking at the blog post below!

We also learnt all the colours. This was interesting to learn because you had to understand the feminine and masculine ways of saying each colour.

Learning the feminine and masculine ways of saying words was interesting. For example, the word 'Blanco' is a masculine word. This because it ends in a O. And the word Rosa is a feminine word because it ends in a A. If the word is feminine the sentence begins in a different way to what a masculine sentence would. There is so much to talk about for it, but It is hard to explain on a blog post. I'm happy I understand.

Basic Spanish Conversation!

BASIC SPANISH CONVERSATION ANIMATION
In the past 2 weeks, our hub has been learning Spanish as part of our weekly tasks, that we have to complete while the others are swimming. This week we have been given the task to create a animation using google slides, and then to screencastify us speaking over top of the animation in Spanish. This is my video/animation, it is pretty basic. I hope you enjoy!

If you would like to just click through the animation itself, here is the slides to do so,

Do you know any Spanish? Comment down below if you do!

Geoff the Giraffe!

Maia the Moa Animals.
This week in Gillstrom maths, we had to create a animal using google sheets, and state obvious changes in their appearance as they age. This was a interesting task and was quite fun. My animal is a basic giraffe and below I have stated the changes made between my Giraffe at the age four and two. I have displayed these changes on a table.
At the end of last term we were learning about Linear equations, this task was set to see our knowledge on Linear equations. The tasks we had to do last term were similar to this weeks, as we has to repeat patterns.

If you were to do this math task, what animal would of you done?

SWAMP MEDIA!

SWAMP MEDIA

This term for inquiry Toroa has been focusing on Media. We got to chose from an array of media platforms and types, here are the options we got to chose from:

- Online Media - This means posting things on a online website for the nation to see, and to learn about the meaning behind social media platforms and informative news websites.

- Print Media - This means to create our own newspaper, this including comics and local interviews about people in our community, and school, these interviews being turned into articles.

- Television Media - Our hub made a news program, an informative news source, that addresses and gives opinions on a broad range of topics.

- Radio Media - This is a media based on radio. Students in Toroa hub created a radio show called 'Swamp Radio'.

I chose to be apart of Swamp Media! I was picked to be a editor of the website, this meaning that I had to check thoroughly through each post that was published to the website. Here is the link to our website! Feel free to have a look through it! Tell your friends about Swamp Media!
