Horrifying Horror Poem

Hi Bloggers!
This week for literacy we had to create a horror poem. This poem had to include some horror conventions, as this term for literacy we are focusing on Genre. This poem is what I think of when I hear the word 'horror'. I hope you enjoy my horror poem!

The Basement, a forbidden place
Where my mother hides
As her safe place
It smells like rotting meat
A pungent nauseating stink
The rotten stench on my mother
And the foul air she left in her wake as she left
I crept down the stairs
And opened the door
There before me
Were dead bodies galore
They were disembodied and decomposed to a horrifying feat
They were skinned, they were burned they were left in a heap
I tried to run, but my feet were tied down
“You're next,” she said

And I was already dead

Thank you for reading my poem.

Can you think of a plot twist to this poem? If so please feel free to comment it down bellow.

Flock of Plastic: Our wearable art Inquiry project

Flock of Plastic (Toroas Inquiry for Term 2)

This term we were given the task to create a wearable art piece that shows our knowledge of plastic
pollution. We chose to create a dead bird to show the damage peoples plastic can cause,
please read the writing below. I hope you learn something from it.

This is our wearable art modeled by Scarlett Noble. Our title for this bruised, bloody bird is called Flock of Plastic. We named it Flock of Plastic because we are afraid that when we look out our windows instead of seeing beautiful birds flying together in flocks, we will see plastic bags and other plastic products. We have been focusing on the concept of the many birds who die because of our toxic rubbish. Approximately 1 million seabirds die from plastic each year. A
a plastic bag can kill multiple animals because the soft plastic takes so long to disintegrate.
Many of these birds accidentally eat plastic and other debris floating in the ocean, mistaking it for food.
It’s probable that it injures or kills the birds by cutting their stomachs or taking up space,
making them feel full when they are actually starving for real food.

The skirt and wings are made out of plastic bags because plastic bags are the main cause of death for the birds,
especially the albatross.
The top half of the creation of our wearable art is made out of spoons to create a feathered effect.
Spoons are also a danger to the birds because the pointy handle end of the spoon will cut their stomach lining,
and intestines, resulting in the bleeding, that is why we have added the blood.
It is dripping down her body because it is a cause of the plastic ripping her apart, starving her.
The bruised heart in the middle of the chest represents the pain it feels from the plastic, killing her kind,
some even being her own children.

The Albatross is critically endangered because of the decisions we are making. There is an estimated
population of only 100, of one of the 22 species.

This is a representation of what happens to birds when they are getting a drink of water or just looking for some food.
I hope you see this, and hopefully, it had persuaded YOU to make a change.
It only takes one person to make a difference.
